高山小灌木，多斜升。枝粗短。叶革质，全缘，无毛，稀有疏柔毛。花序侧生小枝上部，花序梗较长；苞片先端暗；腺体1，腹生，全缘或2浅裂；雄蕊2，花丝离生，无毛; 子房有密绒毛，柄短，花柱较长。
本组的模式种：北极柳Salix arctica Pall.
本组我国仅产1种。
